Mervyn is a hybrid musical and visual project, at the crossroads of industrial rock and electronic music.
Mervyn is the alias of Mathieu Stachino, a composer from the south of France.
Since January 2024, he’s been joined on stage — and sometimes in the studio — by drummer and multi-instrumentalist David Benzazon, notably in a dawless live setup.
With Eros, Mervyn isn’t trying to please — this is his darkest project yet.
Third EP in an already rich journey, Eros abandons breaths, melancholic pads and cinematic samples to dive into a harsh, direct, uncompromising sonic matter, unraveling a thread of hybrid, personal, alternative electronic music.
Composed in collaboration with drummer and multi-instrumentalist David Benzazon (GAMI, 1003, David Marques Quartet), this 6-track project experiments by broadening its influences.
Mutant electronica, industrial rock, primitive techno and spectral nu-metal, bass music and distorted guitars: Mervyn’s sound breaks all boundaries, with redemptive anger as its common thread, and a narrative drawn between horrific symbolism and reflections on our collective monstrosity.
From the saturated, nostalgic IDM of Wound_2, to the electrified darkwave of Love, and the technoid tribute to the cult film TETSUO (1989), Eros unfolds like a fall into the self.
A stylized scream — produced, but visceral — where each track hits like a disillusioned mantra.
Brutal, committed, philosophical, Mervyn offers a reading of the world through associations: the human and the machine, carnal impulse and war, humanity within inhumanity — echoing the world’s own cacophony back at it.
Mervyn’s fourth EP, Thanatos, envisioned as the second half of a diptych, is currently in production and slated for release in fall 2025.
